*had a bread baking demo from King Arthur Flour.
*finally had a book club meeting!
*had a hurricane
*took the unit 2 math test
*started working on multiplication
*continued working on our calendar research
*worked hard on xtra math
*made a really great list of things we've done but the computer crashed and Mrs.MW had to make it up after school! ;(

*decided on a NECAP celebration which will be next week
*remembered that we went on a walking field trip to the Public Library last week!
*started learning about rounding whole numbers and decimals
*learned about mental math strategies using compensation, the associative property of addition, and the commutative property of addition
*continued our banagrams tournament
*started the place value challenge
*started a Wonder Wall
*decided our calendar will be about Family Fun
*have been celebrating books we have finished with book marks and book reviews
*have been working on NFS Reads website, created by OUR STUDENTS!

*had a soccer game. The other team won, but our skills improved!

*played a new computer game called "Stop that Post", we are learning about online safety.

*celebrated Olivia's birthday
*celebrated accomplishments in Xtra Math operations
*learned a rounding rhyme to help us remember. "Circle your number, look next door. 5 or greater add one more. Numbers to the left stay the same, numbers to the right, Zero's your name"

This week we:
*played Bananagrams and Around the World with multiplication and division facts
*worked on fundraiser pieces in Art
*practiced for the NECAPS which start next MONDAY!
*finally had PE class for the second time
*learned how to solve math problems using the Guess and Check method, we tried to write problems that used that method. It was HARD!
*worked on xylophones, and learned the pentatonic scale!
*more and more people are passing math fact tests on www.xtramath.org
*created factor sheets for number 1-50. We will be looking for patterns.
*All of the post cards we sent have been received, so we will be receiving postcards soon!
*earned Frankie the Fire bear for our fabulous fire drill work
*elected Ben and Jessie for our student council representatives this term
